Which Gel Nail Kit Is Right for You? Belle Beauty Gel Polish Kits Compared

A gel manicure done properly at home lasts two to three weeks, just like a salon one. Whether yours does comes down to two things: having a lamp that cures each layer fully, and prepping the nail so the gel has something to grip. This guide explains both, then compares the Belle Beauty gel polish kits so you can choose the right one for where you are starting from.

Every Belle Beauty gel polish is 15ml, HEMA-free and TPO-free. HEMA is the most common cause of allergic reactions to gel nails, so leaving it out lowers the risk of a reaction, and every formula complies with the EU's September 2025 ban on TPO.

Do you need a lamp in your gel kit?

Gel polish only hardens under UV/LED light, so a lamp is essential. If you already own one that cures gel fully (no tacky or soft patches once the top coat is cured), you don't need another, and the Essentials Set is the better buy. If you don't own a lamp, or yours leaves gel soft or wrinkled, choose a kit with our 180W UV/LED lamp. Under-cured gel lifts early, and uncured gel on the skin is a common cause of irritation.

Why prep decides how long gel lasts

Most gel manicures that chip or lift within a week fail at the prep stage, not the colour stage. That is why every Belle Beauty gel kit includes the full four-step liquid system:

  1. Dehydrator: removes natural oils and moisture from the nail plate, which would otherwise stop the gel bonding.

  2. Acid-free primer: works like double-sided tape between the natural nail and the base coat, without the harshness of acid primers.

  3. Base coat: protects the natural nail and anchors the colour.

  4. Top coat: seals the colour with a high-gloss, scratch-resistant finish.

Many budget kits include only a base and top coat. Adding the dehydrator and primer is the single biggest step up in how long a home gel manicure lasts.

The kits in detail

Belle Beauty Gel Polish Essentials Set: best if you already own a lamp

Who it's for: Anyone with a working UV/LED lamp who wants to switch to a full-size, HEMA-free gel system without paying for hardware again.

What's included:

  • 5 x 15ml HEMA & TPO-free gel polishes: Cloud Nine, Nude Ambition, Lemon Drop, Peach Please and Pink Whisper

  • Nail prep dehydrator, acid-free nail primer, base coat, top coat and cuticle oil

  • Stainless steel cuticle pusher and nipper

  • 5 x nail files (100/180, 100/150, 180/240) and 3 x buffer blocks

Worth knowing: No lamp is included, so check yours cures gel fully before you buy.

Belle Beauty At Home Gel Nail Kit: best for beginners

Who it's for: First-timers with no equipment who want a manicure that lasts two to three weeks, not one that chips after a few days.

What's included:

  • 6 x 15ml HEMA & TPO-free gel polishes: Nude Luxe, Angel Kiss, Army Chic, Champagne Shower, Forest Femme and Pink Whisper

  • 180W UV/LED lamp

  • Four-step liquid system: dehydrator, acid-free primer, base coat and top coat

  • Stainless steel cuticle pusher and nippers

  • 5 x nail files (100/180, 180/240, 100/150) and 3 x buffer blocks

  • Lint-free wipes and 15ml cuticle oil

Why we'd pick it: It is everything you need in one box: the lamp, the full prep system and a colour range that runs from nudes to brights, so there is nothing to buy separately.

Belle Beauty Professional Gel Nail Kit with UV/LED Lamp & E-File: best for faster prep and removal

Who it's for: Home users who are comfortable with gel and want neater cuticle work and quicker removal.

What's included:

  • 7 x 15ml HEMA & TPO-free gel polishes: Cocoa Luxe, Nude Ambition, White Pearl, Angel Kiss, Champagne Shower, Nude Luxe and Army Chic

  • 180W UV/LED lamp

  • Electric nail file (e-file) with adjustable RPM

  • Four-step liquid system: dehydrator, acid-free primer, base coat and mirror-gloss top coat

  • Cuticle pusher, cuticle nippers and professional nail scissors

  • 5 x nail files (100/150, 100/180, 180/240) and 3 x buffer blocks

  • Lint-free wipes, a dust cleaning brush and nourishing cuticle oil

Why we'd pick it: The e-file makes cuticle prep and shaping more precise, and filing off the top coat before soaking speeds up removal. Seven shades give you a full rotation of neutrals and deeper tones.

Worth knowing: An e-file takes some practice, so start at a low speed. If you are brand new to gel, the At Home Gel Nail Kit is the easier place to start.

How to do a gel manicure at home

  1. Prep the cuticles: push back the cuticles and gently remove any cuticle sitting on the nail plate.

  2. Shape and buff: file to shape, then lightly buff the nail surface to remove the shine.

  3. Dehydrate: clean away dust and apply dehydrator to each nail.

  4. Prime: apply a thin layer of acid-free primer to the nail only, avoiding the skin.

  5. Base coat: apply a thin layer and cure it in the lamp.

  6. Colour: apply two thin coats, curing after each one. Thin coats cure more fully than thick ones.

  7. Top coat: apply, cap the free edge of the nail, and cure.

  8. Finish: massage in cuticle oil.

Keep every layer off the skin and cuticles. Gel on the skin causes lifting and is the most common cause of irritation.

How to remove gel polish safely

Lightly file or buff off the shine of the top coat, then soak the nails in acetone (for example with cotton pads wrapped in foil) until the gel loosens, usually around 10 to 15 minutes. Gently push the softened gel away with a cuticle pusher and finish with cuticle oil. Never peel or pick gel off, as this takes layers of the natural nail with it.

Gel polish or BIAB?

Gel polish is the right choice if you mainly want colour. If your natural nails are weak, brittle or peeling and you want them to grow, BIAB adds strength as well as colour. See the Belle Beauty BIAB Kit, or compare every kit type in our guide to the best nail kits of 2026.

Frequently asked questions

Which gel nail kit is best for beginners?

The Belle Beauty At Home Gel Nail Kit, because it includes a 180W UV/LED lamp and the full four-step prep system that stops gel lifting early.

How long does a home gel manicure last?

With correct prep and full curing, Belle Beauty gel polish lasts two to three weeks without chipping or lifting.

Can I use Belle Beauty gel polish with my own lamp?

Yes, as long as your UV/LED lamp cures gel fully. If the gel feels soft, tacky or wrinkled after curing, your lamp is not strong enough and a 180W lamp is the better option.

Are Belle Beauty gel polishes safe for sensitive skin?

All Belle Beauty gel polishes are HEMA-free and TPO-free, which lowers the risk of a reaction. To reduce the risk further, keep product off your skin and cure every layer fully.

Is an e-file necessary for gel polish?

No. You can prep and remove gel polish with files, buffers and acetone. An e-file makes both faster and more precise once you are comfortable using one.
